The conventional meaning of the Arabic word "Ansar" is "Helper". It is the title of the people of Medinah who helped the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions when they migrated from Mecca.

During the migration years of our Prophet (pbuh), there were two groups of Muslims - those who migrated with the Prophet (pbuh) from Mecca were called the "Muhajirin" and those who helped the Prophet and his companions in various different ways during their settlement in Medinah were called the "Ansar".

The Ansar Finance Group is an Islamic Initiative established in 1994 to provide and to promote the awareness of "Halal" financial borrowings and investments among the Muslim community of U.K.

The aim of the initiative is to establish an Islamic finance facility, operating within the principles of Islamic Law (Sharia), which will provide its members an alternative to Interest (Riba) related transactions in all types of financial matters.
